Dear Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer: Nobody Bings. [Updated]
For those of you who tuned in to #CES live stream, you may remember that I had a very difficult time mincing words – and so I didn’t. The presentation by Microsoft was absolutely atrocious. It did seem like a bit of an infomercial with the host being Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, and the expert being some dude from Microsoft who was showing clueless Ballmer around the stage. And Ballmer did seem clueless – because during one of the demos – he tapped on the screen of a tablet where a Windows logo was – only to find out there wasn’t any reason to at all. Go Ballmer. Anyway – he blurted out this fantastic line regarding Bing during his opening speech:I was really surprised to hear this sort of arrogant behavior coming from a guy who released the Zune a few years back, only to be trumped by Apple’s iPod – and his comeback was “they don’t even have a keyboard.”
But let’s get down to brass tacks – does anyone Bing? Well thanks to Quantcast – there’s a graph for that!
So 146 Million people Google, while 40 Million people Bing. Okay, that’s not such a bad share of the market.
Oh! Wait, I forgot the dwarf Yahoo! that everyone’s forgotten about and that’s been bought out by Bing. Surely Yahoo!will make Bing look good in that same kind of chart:
