There are so many factors that govern a sites 'speed' I'd be interested to know exactly what Google would measure. I'd highly recommend the Firefox / firebug / yslow combination for performance analysis. I'd also recommend Steve Souder's excellent blog - http://www.stevesouders.com/blog/ Nice!
